The cells of your body naturally create toxic wastes as part of their normal function. This cellular, self-produced waste, is called endogenous waste. It is what the eliminative organs (the liver, kidneys, colon, bladder, sinuses and skin) were designed to handle.

Unfortunately, in our modern consumeristic society much of the food we eat adds extra toxins to the normal load that then has to also be eliminated. Everything that you take into your body has to be digested, assimilated and eliminated, or it will become toxic in your body.

Much of the food we eat today becomes toxic because it can’t be properly digested, assimilated and eliminated. All the processed foods, artificial ingredients, junk foods and fast food add to the toxic load of the body. This waste is called exogenous waste, waste coming from outside the body.

More exogenous waste is added to your body by environmental toxins. It is now becoming widely publicized that we live in an increasingly toxic world. There are now thousands of toxic chemicals in the environment (by some counts there are as many as 200,000). Many of these chemicals find their way into your body.

Scientific studies have found that the average American has at least 700 synthetic chemicals in their body, chemicalbodyburden.org *. A landmark 2001 study by the U.S. Center for Disease Control tested 2500 people for 148 toxic chemicals and found amounts of most of them in each person.

The CDC also tested the amount of toxic chemicals in newborn babies and found an average of over 200 chemicals. The most prevalent chemicals in the newborns were mercury, fire retardants, pesticides and the Teflon chemical perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), recently characterized as a likely human carcinogen by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board.

While the scientific proof that these chemicals cause disease is only just beginning to be studied, it is clear these chemicals add to the toxic load of the body. As the combined toxic load in the body increases it can overwhelm your body’s immune system and eliminative organs. This can lead to minor ailments and more serious illness.

“The primary cause of disease is the accumulation of unnecessary wastes that are not properly eliminated, resulting in poison retention and subsequent health problems.”

Many diseases have become associated with overeating and toxicity as well. Most heart diseases, diabetes and some cancers have been associated with toxicity and have had measured benefits from occasional fasting.

Fasts like the Neera Super Cleanse give your body a break, allowing it to focus on cleansing and elimination. The digestive system gets to rest, your body gets to focus its energy on cleansing and healing and your system is flushed with fluids.

Periodic fasting helps you to cleanse your body, lose excess weight, prevent disease and live longer. But fasting is hard right?
